The main focus of the program is to provide outreach to the lower income community and food insecure families and individuals and connect them to food and nutrition resources in their area within the county (food pantries, meal programs, etc.). The program also provides at home assistance for those who want to apply, re-apply, or recertify for SNAP benefits (formerly known as food stamps).

WIC provides supplemental food, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women and families with children under the age of 5 years old. Must meet income eligibility. Call for specific income requirements. This program stresses nutrition education and gives a family a voucher to purchase formula and nutritious food.

Head Start

A comprehensive preschool program that helps children from low-income families develop the early reading and math skills they need to be successful in school. The program promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children ages 3 through 5. There are 9 locations throughout Otsego County. Eligibility is based on Federal Income Guidelines.
